Avec son visage lisse et rouge irradiant de lumière dans toutes les directions, le Président Mao Zedong est un motif incontournable des affiches de propagande produites entre la naissance de la République populaire de Chine en 1949 et le début des années 1980. L'objectif de ces affiches était à la fois de montrer au peuple chinois quelle disposition morale on attendait de lui et d'illustrer le glorieux futur de la Chine communiste, si tout le monde s'unissait pour suivre le même chemin vers l'utopie.

Ce livre rassemble une sélection colorée d'oeuvres et d'objets culturels de propagande issus de la collection d'affiches chinoises de Max Gottschalk, dont beaucoup sont aujourd'hui extrêmement rares.

The Communist Superhero

With his smooth, warm, red face which radiated light in all directions, Chairman Mao Zedong was a fixture in Chinese propaganda posters produced between the birth of the People's Republic in 1949 and the early 1980s. The goal of each poster was to show the Chinese people what sort of behavior was considered morally correct and how great the future of Communist China would be if everyone followed the same path toward utopia by uniting together.

This book brings together a selection of colorful propaganda artworks and cultural artifacts from Max Gottschalk's vast collection of Chinese propaganda posters, many of which are now extremely rare.

Mit seinem seinem glatten, roten Gesicht, das Lichtstrahlen in alle Himmelsrichtung aussandte, war der gro(...)e Vorsitzende Mao Zedong zwischen 1949 und den frühen 1980er-Jahren auf Propaganda-plakaten der Volksrepublik China allgegenwärtig. Ziel der Plakate war es, dem chinesischen Volk moralisch korrektes Verhalten vorzuhalten und zu zeigen, wie gro(...)artig die Zukunft für das kommunistische China sein werde, wenn alle gemeinsam denselben Weg in Richtung Utopia beschritten.

Dieser Band präsentiert eine Auswahl der bunten und teilweise inzwischen extrem raren Propaganda-kunstwerke und weiterer kultureller Artefakte aus Max Gottschalks umfangreicher Sammlung.
