Ce quatrième volume de la collection « Car Racing » aborde une année 1968 extrêmement marquante. « Briser les carcans d'un certain ordre social », tel était en ce mois de mai le message partagé par la jeunesse de plusieurs continents. Leur propos est aussi bien de traduire par l'image l'effrayante moyenne au tour de 243 km/h au Grand Prix de Belgique sur le circuit de Spa-Francorchamps que d'illustrer le passage en large dérapage d'un col enseveli de neige au Rallye Monte-Carlo... ainsi que témoigner, tout en complicité, du mélange de tension et de décontraction qui habite ces hommes et ces femmes de la course, réunis chaque week end pour partager succès et drames. Rien d'étonnant à ce que le très fort impact sur le public de tels concentrés d'actions et d'émotions commence alors à inspirer marques et jeunes services marketing en quête de nouveaux vecteurs de communication.

This fourth volume in the Car Racing series tackles a year of special importance, 1968. Indeed, 'Breaking the shackles of a certain social order' was the message shared by young people from several continents in the month of May. While such demonstrations were not the playing field of DPPI's photographers, the latter happily continued to flourish in the extraordinary world of motor racing, whose atmosphere they captured to perfection.

Their purpose was both to translate into images impressions like the frightening average speed per lap of 243 km/hr of the Belgian Grand Prix on the Spa-Francorchamps track or the clearance, complete with major skidding, of a snow-covered pass during the Monte-Carlo Rally, and to serve as complicit witnesses to the mixture of tension and freedom that inhabits these men and women of the racing world who gathered each weekend to share triumph and tragedy. It comes as no surprise that such a concentration of action and emotion made a strong impression on the public and inspired brands and emerging marketing services seeking new channels of communication.
