Crossfading is a participative sound performance.

Crossfading operates on a binaural recording its physiological characteristic is to cause shifts in successive ear frequencies, which can speed up or slow down brain waves so that the mind remains awake while the body is asleep. Although gradually transported into a dream world, the listener remains in full control of his cognitive faculties, he is dreaming while being aware of dreaming.

Crossfading has been presented since 2004 during collective sessions in the United States, Vietnam, Japan and UK - It's as if Loris Gréaud wanted to plunge the whole world and its consciousness into a deep sleep. Definitively ?

This work is now reinitiated in the form of a book containing records of an MRI of the artist's brain under the influence of its own creative process. These refer to our own cerebral hemispheres which are solicited while listening to this rare experience. The accompanying CD contains the live recording of the final performance, played at the whitney museum of American art in New York, november 20th, 2006.

Relax and enjoy a test of binaural listening with headphones for optimum effect.
